Jack, who had been in the back, returned out front with some cleaning spray and a sponge to clean up the couple of blood splats on the counter. He did so quickly while grinning ear to ear to Greg. "You should be easier on the kids. Maybe get them hooked into the cause, and get them some proper teaching."
"Sorry Jack," apologized Greg while raising his glass as a thanks for the hospitality. He turned back towards the man in grey. "So, breaking out the old crews? That's all fine and dandy, but we need a way in. Unfortunately the kids will be getting home soon enough, so I have to head out. I'll leave it to you to find a way. If you get arrested before letting me know, I'll ask the boys to help me get in too."
Grey-scale nodded in compliance and stood up, walking out of the bar, Greg not far behind. The sight they saw was nothing out of the ordinary, and neither was the reaction they took. They had no plan so police defiance wasn't exactly a good option at this point, so they two cooperated and stood against the wall, while the officers did a check of the bar. They came out a moment later and waved everyone back to normal.
Inevitably the two got to the streets, and split off in separate directions. The roads were dark and wet, but steaming from the heat built up from the under workings of the city. The storm drains on the side of the streets billowed steams and vapors in bursts and bunches. Lights of cars could be seen from not far away, but very very rarely. Down in this part of the city, if you couldn't walk there, it wasn't worth going to. Some empty crates were tossed carelessly on the side of the road, and there was a fire escape with a backpack hanging off of it. Grey-scale ignored it for the time being. He lugged himself over to a nearby bus-stop and waited for a while until the transport came. Hopping onto it, he set himself off for his trek home.
Grey-scale must have spaced out during the trip, and caught the second closest bus stop near his apartment. The semi-rotted corners of the door leaked light. The grey clothed man took a moment to rummage for his key. He opened the door and entered the premises. There were doors on either side in a long hallway. Most of the doors were closed, but one was open, just a couple doors in. As Greyscale walked past, he could notice a bunch of guys sitting in the room playing cards. One of them said loudly, "Hey! Shady man, you had a package sent to you but you weren't around, so I took the liberty of dropping it off. Your door might still be open."
A short nod of acknowledgment was all that was given, as grey-scale proceeded down the hall towards a turn. He took the only possible turn, right, and went up the stairs to the second level. Again, it was a hallway of doors, one of which was half open. Grey entered the room, pushing the door open, and spotting a mostly clean room. There weren't any pictures on the wall, and there were no extra decorations. A desk in the far corner had a small brown paper wrapped box. Grey walked over and began to peal apart the paper. Inside was, once more, a brown box. Although the label said, "Personal Data Assistant."
Grey-scale opened the box, and removed the several packages of vacuum sealed pieces of equipment. There were two bottles of what appeared to be eye drops. He pulled all of the components out, and finally turned to the manual. He opened it up, and began reading on how to install the device. Inevitably, he begins the process with swallowing a pill that contains reading nanites like the ones used in hospitals. They keep track of his vitals. Then he drops into his eyes one of the eye drops, which begins his heads up display. The device had yet to be activated so nothing seemed to happen, but he would have to keep his eyes open for a minute. He picked up a small black piece of fabric for the hand, and slipped it on over his fingers. It stretched and formed to his hand. As doing so, there was a blur in his vision, which eventually formed a number. It was how much money he had accumulated on his person.
This is the first shot at combat in the game. You learn to get used to the fighting controls, and the hand to hand system gives you its first run for your money. This gives you a chance to explore the controls for yourself before a real tutorial for it. During the fight, Greg will actually tell you how to use the system.
